Crab King,

Happy Mon.. er Tuesday!  I've been busy trying to move and set up an actual work space, I'll have pictures after I get it all set up, in the mean time, NEW SHIRT DESIGN! yay! Just in time for a rainy winter. I call this one the Crab King, just cause I have a thing for things grand and mythical.

If you are wondering how I pick designs, they usually come from a doodle of an idea I liked in one of my sketchbooks. I wanted to do another design similar to the Elephant King, this drawing is about 3 inches tall, they always start small.

"I wanted it to be in the shape of a crown"

I then draw it, with ink and brushes, pens, and whatever, maybe even twigs. When I'm done the drawing, it gets scanned and some touch ups and alterations are done. After that, it's off to the studio to get the screen done and to print it.

"I changed the back legs after scanning it into the computer"

"washing out the screen"

Then after some printing and drying you have a fresh wearable shirt! You can now buy it @ 1%talent and if you are one of the first few online orders, I'll include a folded poster of the same print.

Late, Late Post!

Happy Wednesday! I'm bringing you a late, late post cause I've been sick on and off for the passed few weeks. So many things have happened, I'm not even sure where to start! Most of December, I was busy moving, checking out craft fairs and prepping for City Of Craft. So this is pretty much the City Of Craft post. First I'd like to thank everyone who came out to support handmade. I forgot my camera on both days so I'll be using the communal photos taken by the talented Celine Kim, most of the photos in this post (all but one, the square one) is by her.

"The Theatre Centre was much more lively this year, but I was in Thrush Holmes Empire"

"Thrush Holmes Empire was also a great space"

"I didn't get a shot of my whole table heres a shot of the top of it."

I don't have it up yet, but I finished a new design just in time for the fair, It may be called "The Crab King". I also hope to get my greeting cards up on Etsy sometime soon. Heres a little snap shot of the new design being printed.

"Crushing mountains, that's what kings do"

Following are some other cool people and some cool photos from the show. First, one of my neighbors was Raymond E. Biesinger, a super chill dude with super art.

NYCC, Canzine, Nucleus oh my

"Ugly Dolls @ NYCC"

Hey there, Happy Wednesday! A lot has happened since I last posted! I went to NYCC but I was in the forgotten NYAF artist alley... why can't we all just be together?! That aside, due to complications, I didn't have all my stuff. I had a more limited amount than usual. I shared my table with Morico, she had some bags, cute crocheted items and some original art!

"Our bare but cool table"

We made the best of it and set up our table. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and got one of the new 1%talent featuring rounded corners and spot UV. Overall it, was a good trip and hope I could return to NY soon.

"I'm running out!"

"Poster by Hyein Lee"
The past weekend was CANZINE 2011! It was super fun and it was at a new location! Personally I liked the old venue better. Even though we had our own tables, I was still beside Morico, thanks to everyone who came out!

"I'm a meatball!"

Finnally I have a piece in the Power In Numbers show online by Gallery Nucleus. It is on sale for $100 and a portion will be donated to WWF, the World Wildlife Foundation, not the World Wrestling Federation. Check it out, and while you're there, check out the other pieces. It's art for a good cause.

Sorry for the lack of posts, but here's a quick update. I made a new business card for 1%talent. It's been a while since i designed one so I'm a bit rusty, I also did it in a rush to send to the printers since I'm completely out of the old one.

"Front w/Selective UV coating"

"Back"

Past Friday was also "Face It - A Portrait Show" By Harvey Chan, It was only on Friday and Saturday, so i think the show it over, the pieces were beautiful in person but here are some picture from the opening night.

"Mr. Harvey Chan"

"some familiar faces"

"Peter with his Portrait by Harvey"

On the same night Magic Pony/Narwhal was also having an opening, "The world Turn Upside Down" by Lauchie Reid. More paintings, but different stuff. This show goes till November 7 so there still more time to check it out. Some pieces i liked.

Finally I've been busy preparing for NYAF, which is this weekend. My package of stuff is stuck at customs,  and sadly might be sent back. So I've been calling them almost non stop. wish me luck and hopefully all goes well and i'll see you this weekend.

"see you there :)"

The Renegade Craft Fair, Chicago 2011

Pass weekend was The Renegade Craft Fair, Chicago. This year I finally got to walk around thanks to a friend who came by and helped me out by watching my table for me! The weather was great and there was a good turn out this year. I want to thank everyone who came out and supported handmade.

"why hello there, come buy some shirts"

This was my set up. I think I did pretty well, with the limited amount of stuff I could bring with me to the fair.

"under the tent"

It was sunny all weekend and very hot, I was lucky to get the less hot and shady side. Here are some pictures of other vendors. There were so many that i couldn't really see them all. I also tried to link the websites in the captions.

"The Small Object"

I really enjoy graphics by The Small Object, this bag was in front of their tent, I kind of regret not getting it now.

"Funny felt carrots and burgers"

I'm not too sure who made this but it was really cute and very well made. I'll update later when i find out.

"one Canoe two"

These coaster were really neat, they reminded me of home,

"Soda by Amy"

This beautiful town was made of ceramics by Soda, I enjoy all thing houses.
This was Liz Born and Sanya Glisic's tent. I really enjoy the sign they had, it was really eye catching. I wonder what it was made of.

"Lulu B's tent"
These guys (Lulu B's) were riding around the fair all weekend promoting their wine. They were on a fancy bike with colourful balloons behind them. They were hard to miss.

That is it for all the renegades I'm doing this year. Hopefully I'll be at it again next year. For more photos you can check out my flickr. Up next is Canzine, it'll be on Sunday, October 23. At 918 Bathurst Centre, 918 Bathurst St. from 1 – 7 pm
